The marketplace is built and not open yet. It opens to a few accounts at a time, after a lawyer's written answers. This page shows how it will work.

Marketplace for buyers

The marketplace lists alert services that other people run on Terminal. This page explains how to pick one, what a subscription costs, and how the caps keep spending in check.

What a service is

A service is a set of alert conditions that a seller runs on Terminal. Each time a condition fires, Terminal sends you a copy of that event. Terminal runs the conditions, delivers the events and keeps the record.

The conditions are fixed once the service exists. The seller cannot change what it watches or when it fires. A service describes what happened in the market. It does not tell you to buy, sell or hold anything, and Terminal never places trades.

A service is free, or it has a price per event. You pay only for events delivered to you.

Find a service

Open Market in the app. Use Search services to look for a name, coin or seller, and Filters to narrow the list by type, price or coin. Turn on Complete records only to see just the services whose record is complete. The address keeps your search and filters, so you can share the view or come back to it.

Each card shows the service's price, its coins and the status of its record. Services with a Complete record come first. Open a card to see the service page, with the tabs Overview, Record, Seller and Price and terms.

To weigh services against each other, tick Compare under up to three cards. Once two are ticked, a bar at the bottom of the screen offers to compare them. A table shows them side by side, in the order you picked: the seller, the conditions, the price and the record status. It shows the same facts as each service page and does not rank them.

Read a service's record

Every service keeps a numbered record of its events from the day it was created. Nothing is imported from before, and nothing is deleted later.

For each event, the record shows the coin, the price when it fired, and a receipt. The receipt shows what the price did an hour, four hours, a day and a week later.

You see an event in the record 24 hours after it fires. Events you received as a subscriber show at once.

The record's status is one of these:

  • Recording: the service has not met the minimum record yet, so it cannot be listed.
  • Complete record: the minimum record is met, and the event numbers have no gap.
  • Incomplete record: an event number is missing.

The Seller tab shows counts from Terminal's own records, such as subscribers and repeat buyers. A record shows what the price did. It does not say what it will do next.

Subscribe

On the service page, choose Subscribe. Then pick:

  • Monthly cap: the most this subscription spends in a month. It starts at $5, and you can set up to $100.
  • Deliver to: every channel your own alerts use, or the ones you pick.

Check the price and the cap, then choose the confirm button. On a paid service it names the price and the cap. Events start with the next one that fires.

A few rules apply:

  • A subscription counts as one of your alerts, so your plan needs room for one more.
  • Events go to your alert channels and webhooks in Terminal's format. Bot presets never receive them.
  • Delivered events count toward your daily message limit.
  • You can start up to 20 new subscriptions a day.
  • You cannot subscribe to your own service, or to the same service twice.

Subscriptions

Subscriptions lists each service you subscribe to, where its events go and what it cost this month.

Caps

Two monthly caps limit what you spend on paid events:

  • Cap for this subscription: it starts at $5 and can go up to $100.
  • Account cap, all subscriptions together: it starts at $20 and can go up to $500.

An event is charged only if both caps have room for it. Change a subscription's cap with Raise cap. A free service needs no cap.

When a cap is reached

The subscription pauses and shows Paused: cap. Nothing is delivered or charged while it is paused.

It resumes by itself on the first day of the next month (UTC), if your plan and both caps have room. You can also raise the cap that was reached to resume it sooner. If the account cap stopped it, raise the account cap, then choose Resume.

Pausing

Choose Pause to stop events for a while. Nothing is charged while a subscription is paused. Choose Resume to turn it back on.

New events start from the moment you resume. Events that fired while it was paused are not delivered and not charged.

A subscription can also pause for other reasons:

  • Paused: credits: your credit balance was too low for the next event. Add credits, then resume it.
  • Paused: plan: your plan's alert limit is full. It starts again by itself if your plan changes to one with room for one more alert.

An event is also skipped, and not charged, when it arrives too late or when you muted or snoozed the subscription at the time it fired.

Ending

Choose End subscription to stop it for good. You can subscribe again later. A subscription also ends when the seller retires the service, or when you do not accept a higher price in time.

Price changes

A seller can change a service's price, at most once every 7 days.

  • A lower price applies to you at once.
  • A higher price applies only after 30 days. Until then you keep the price you have.

We email you when the price goes up. To keep the subscription, choose Accept new price before that date. If you do not, the subscription ends on that date, and nothing more is charged.

Refunds and reports

Choose Report on a subscription when something is wrong. Pick a reason: Not as described, I did not subscribe, Spam or Other. You can add a note.

A report ends the subscription. Charges still on hold go back to your credits. A charge is on hold for 7 days after the event. Terminal returns its own part of the charge too.

These limits apply:

  • Up to $20 is returned to you each month.
  • You can send up to 3 reports a month.
  • You can report a subscription while it runs, and for 7 days after it ends.
  • Each subscription can be reported once.

Terminal reviews every report.

Pay with credits

Paid events spend credits, one charge per event delivered. Credits come in packs that you buy in Plan and billing. Wallet shows your balance, what subscriptions cost this month, and every change to your credits.

If your balance cannot cover the next event, the subscription pauses and you are not charged. Add credits, then resume it.

See Credits for packs, the balance limit and what else credits pay for.
