What moves Ondo (ONDO)

As of October 12, 2026. This page describes drivers that already have a public record, and dates that are already on a calendar. It is not investment advice. It does not say to buy, sell, or hold, and it does not forecast a price.

What typically drives the price

A 10 billion cap, and a yearly release the calendars do not count the same way. ONDO is the governance token of the Ondo DAO. The Foundation docs say the initial supply is 10 billion, that there is no scheduled inflation, and that transfers opened on January 18, 2024. CoinGecko's markets response on October 12, 2026, 09:56 UTC, reported circulating supply of about 4.87 billion against a 10 billion maximum.

Tokenomics.com, read October 12, 2026, lists the next unlock on January 18, 2027: 1,710,223,118 ONDO, 17.1% of the 10 billion cap, with the vesting model running to January 18, 2029. Messari's unlock table lists a January 18 release of 1.9 billion ONDO and attributes the schedule to the project website. The Foundation docs page states the cap and says there is no scheduled inflation. It does not print the January 2027 row. This page treats January 18, 2027 as a date two calendars share. It does not treat either token count as confirmed against the contract.

Messari's allocation table, also attributed to the project website, splits supply into ecosystem growth 52.1%, protocol development 33%, private sales 12.9%, and a community access sale of about 2%. Those shares describe how the cap was labeled. They are not a reading of wallets done for this page.

The products the token governs. Headlines about the funds and the on-chain products the DAO is associated with move attention to ONDO. Those notes do not share the January clock. This page does not quote assets in those products. A figure for that was not taken from the docs page used here.

Leverage. Perpetual markets can force liquidations that extend a move. Funding and open interest are not alert types until that feed is connected.

How much it usually moves

From October 13, 2025 through October 12, 2026, CoinGecko's daily USD series for ondo-finance produced 364 close-to-close changes. The method is in README.md.

The median absolute move was 2.8%. The 90th percentile day was 7.7%. The price moved at least 5% on 88 days, at least 3% on 169 days, and at least 10% on 21 days. The largest close-to-close change in the window was 27.3%.

About 1 day in 4 cleared 5%. A fixed "5% up or down" rule fires on a week that was ordinary for ONDO in this window. January 18, if that date is the release, is one day inside a coin that already clears 5% about once a week. An unusual-move alert uses Ondo's own recent range.

A 5% move inside one hour is a different event from a 5% close-to-close day. This count does not measure the hourly case.
