What moves Dogecoin (DOGE)

As of October 11, 2026. This page describes drivers that already have a public record, and dates that are already on a calendar. It is not investment advice. It does not say to buy, sell, or hold, and it does not forecast a price.

What typically drives the price

A fixed reward, and no cap. Since block 600,000 in 2015, every Dogecoin block pays 10,000 DOGE. The reward does not halve. There is no maximum supply. The target is one block per minute. At that target, a year of blocks mints about 5.26 billion DOGE. The percentage rate falls only because the base gets larger.

On October 11, 2026, doge.supply reported 156,277,012,865 DOGE in total, a block reward of 10,000 DOGE, and an annual issuance rate of 3.37%. The same day, BitInfoCharts showed a reward of 10,000 DOGE plus fees, 1,352 blocks in the prior 24 hours (a bit slower than the one-per-minute target), and block height 6,410,684 at 11:57 UTC. New coins go to miners. Dogecoin is merge-mined with Litecoin, so the two chains share a lot of hashrate. A CoinStats note on October 11, 2026 put Dogecoin's share of that joint miner budget at about 83.5% over the prior day, using that day's prices. That is a security fact, not a price target.

A public GitHub discussion has floated cutting the reward from 10,000 DOGE to 1,000. As of the sources checked, that is a proposal, not an activated rule.

Attention. DOGE has a long record of sharp days lined up with posts, television, and product mentions from widely followed accounts, and with broad crypto moves led by Bitcoin. The chain does not schedule those. There is no protocol date that tells you when the next one falls.

Listings and products. A secondary legal summary from 2026 describes the SEC moving Dogecoin ETF filings onto generic listing standards rather than one-off exchange rule changes. This page does not claim a specific US spot DOGE product is trading. Check the filing if you need that fact.

How much it usually moves

From October 12, 2025 through October 11, 2026, CoinGecko's daily USD series for dogecoin produced 364 close-to-close changes. The method is in README.md.

The median absolute move was 1.7%. The 90th percentile day was 5.2%. The price moved at least 5% on 40 days, at least 3% on 113 days, and at least 10% on 9 days. The largest close-to-close change in the window was 14.8%.

About 1 day in 9 cleared 5%. A fixed "5% up or down" rule treats a fairly common large day as the event. It also stays silent on 3% days, and there were 113 of those. Attention-driven moves do not arrive at one size. An unusual-move alert scales the bar to how much DOGE has been moving lately, so a quiet month and a loud month are not the same rule.

A 5% move inside one hour is a different event from a 5% close-to-close day. This count does not measure the hourly case.

Example alerts

These are examples of wording. They are not recommendations, and they are not live prices. Terminal can run an unusual move, a percent move, a price level, or a volume spike. The note on an alert describes the move. It does not tell you what to do.

  1. Tell me when Dogecoin (DOGE) moves more than usual within an hour.
  2. Tell me when DOGE moves more than usual within 24 hours.
  3. Tell me when DOGE's volume is at least 3 times its 20-day average.

Volume is the closer match for an attention day, because those days often show up in both price and volume. The unusual-move rule covers the price leg without a fixed percent.

Scheduled events as of October 11, 2026

No protocol supply date is on the calendar. The reward does not halve, and no activation height for a reward change was found in the sources checked on October 11, 2026.

Issuance continues at 10,000 DOGE per block in the meantime. That is a standing fact, not an event.
